The dogs appear to be somewhat rotund. This explains everything. As in my case, Paleo eating does not guarantee svelte-ness.

The male is extremely lean, to “appear” [to you] is right. The female is fixed and she put on a bit of weight since we had that done. However, she cycles from lean to a bit weightier.
Dogs are wonderful creatures; in many ways, better than us. Great lookin’ pups.
