I’m not going to give excuses. I write a lot, I like it, and that’s not changed.
Better I say that I kicked off this series a bit prematurely:
I did so right at both the beginning of greater Covidiocy-Child-Like-Fear-Lockdown measures here in Thailand, plus a move to a new apartment, which is my old apartment—and that’s a story for another time.
But mostly, I’m trying to get an increasingly better handle on what’s going on. It’s crucially important for me—because you aren’t the only reader—to make the most totally sound and solid case that permanent crisis is life for the foreseeable future. But that’s just the first part. The harder part is demonstrating how pretty much all crises since the end of the Cold War in the early 90s are complete bollocks.
Before then, the various crises were crisis-light. in other words, innumerable moral crises dominated by religious people, and you could embrace or dismiss them, life didn’t change. There are continual calls to revive them, from abortion to violent video games—I think backmasking of vinyl albums might be dead. No matter what I think about abortion, so long as females can vote, it’s a complete political dead end.
You want to rid the world of abortion? Man up and repeal the 19th. Then that happens within months. But, can’t happen, because women take a mile when offered an inch, and they always want to eat their cake and have it too. So see how that goes. But, see, the whole point of political antagonism is that nothing ever really changes, only the focus on the latest outrage.
You would not even propose repealing the 19th Amendment; thus, everyone talking about killing babies is masturbating in public. Simple. See, this is the difficulty of my task. Do you see how simple that one formulation is? And it’s correct. Abortion is virtually a global right for women. As roughly half the population, if they have a say in politics, you will never, ever, rid the world of abortion, not even a little. Even if a young girl celebrates and cheers your moralisms, she’ll get one if it’s more convenient to do so.
I’m making no judgement about it. I’m just trying to explain how social antagonism based on various moral perils—whether religious or “scientific”—flourish in our age of endless “information.”
The antagonism is the point. Political antagonism is always the point.
It’s how all the global elites make their money. And while much of the hysteria surrounding the cold war with communism over decades was indeed hysterical, it at least presented a real and actual threat to Western traditions and ways of life. The Soviet Union had shit tons of intercontinental ballistic nukes and lots of ways to deliver them. I was a US Navy Officer on the front lines of that frosty freeze for 5 years, tooling around in the Sea of Japan with the Midway Carrier Battle Group enticing various ship and aircraft action out of Vlad. Daring them, every day and all night.
We were in a constant War Game that I loved and ate up. We helped ourselves to play that game and hold ourselves to account. One hard and fast rule, for example, was that no Soviet aircraft gets within 200 nautical miles of the carrier without being under armed fighter escort. I saw that directive blown one single time over hundreds and hundreds of flyovers.
On USS REEVES, we were 200 nm from Midway on the “threat axis,” and it was our job to control the aircraft taking off from the carrier, manage them on CAP station, run intercepts and escorts, manage mid-air refuelling, get them back to the carrier.
…Anyway, It’s just to say that sort of real world thing is a bit of a tough job with real consequences for fuck ups. I left the US Navy when the Soviet Union collapsed. I saw the writing on the wall. I was thrilled to be part of a force trained to take on the best our “war games” could give us, with competent Soviet men and real Soviet military tech.
Worrying about 7th Century Dirt-Scratching Savages with oil? …Few weapons, zero air force or navy, incompetent, zealots, etc, etc, etc. No fucking way. Fuck the Navy. Now look at the whole military. Generals and Admirals falling all over themselves to make the military woke and inclusive. That just goes to show that you need a real foe, and this is what happens when you don’t.
As a Navy officer, I gave a real and whole fuck about being part of the tech best—to rise, so that those sorts of people were my peers. God and Country bullshit? That’s for the suckers, chumps, and cheerleaders in short skirts—the brain dead mindless.
…It’s easy to preach to choirs.
It’s much harder to even get someone to think that their entire investment in something is pretty worthless.
But that is my job.
Now, observe the culmination of a 20-year failure and embarrassment in Afghanistan.
Desert Storm, or Shock & Awe?
Now, everyone knows how males are going to take and signal virtue on that.
How about females?
The honest truth is that most females, guided by sexual arousal, would likely rather be man handled by one of these guys, more than you, if they hope to climax.
All the virtue signalling is such lying bullshit and the right is just as bad.
Sure, these dudes quote their silly scriptures because almost everyone is a fucking moron anyway. At least, they back them up with their guns—unlike a single Texan on earth. Texas is a global repository for dudes who love guns—and go to “the range.”
Texans are pussies too, especially the males.
My problem is that I could go on and on with meme after meme, but the real point is, 9/11 was a GLOBAL CRISIS!!! and the whole world fell for it and got virtually strip-searched on every flight and laid down for it and who knows but most will lie down too for showing their medical status before being “free” to travel.
I was tired of all that crap for a long time.
Now, it has reached and exceeded my level of outrage.
So, as you might understand, this series I’m going to write for the paid membership is a special thing. it’s not like a screed, like this post, just another flow of conscience.
It’s not about any crisis being important or not and the chances of one being important are increasingly slim.
It’s about how to craft, design, and style your life so it doesn’t matter.
