The Prestigious Lancet Journal Just Killed Covid Vaccination (and other stuff)

…I perhaps maybe need to subtitle this blog something like “The Day After The Arrow” since I mention Mike Eades’ newsletter so often. Oh, well. We have different audiences and a bit of cross-pollination is good. He’s afforded me mentions a few times as well. Mutual promotion with substantial cross-interests and goals is the best advertising.

Also, my girl and her younger sister flew in here to Phuket a couple of nights ago, and that’s keeping me occupied in the classic sense. Nice to have a female presence at home, first since about June, owing to all the endless global Covid bullshit. Anyway, between that and drafting the next post in my Permanent Crisis Series, I thought to just get this rather quick one out before the weekend.

This is the most important section in this week’s The Arrow, so I’ll begin with that and then cover some other things.

The epidemiological relevance of the COVID-19-vaccinated population is increasing

High COVID-19 vaccination rates were expected to reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in populations by reducing the number of possible sources for transmission and thereby to reduce the burden of COVID-19 disease. Recent data, however, indicate that the epidemiological relevance of COVID-19 vaccinated individuals is increasing. In the UK it was described that secondary attack rates among household contacts exposed to fully vaccinated index cases was similar to household contacts exposed to unvaccinated index cases (25% for vaccinated vs 23% for unvaccinated). 12 of 31 infections in fully vaccinated household contacts (39%) arose from fully vaccinated epidemiologically linked index cases. Peak viral load did not differ by vaccination status or variant type [[1]]. In Germany, the rate of symptomatic COVID-19 cases among the fully vaccinated (“breakthrough infections”) is reported weekly since 21. July 2021 and was 16.9% at that time among patients of 60 years and older [[2]]. This proportion is increasing week by week and was 58.9% on 27. October 2021 (Figure 1) providing clear evidence of the increasing relevance of the fully vaccinated as a possible source of transmission. A similar situation was described for the UK. Between week 39 and 42, a total of 100.160 COVID-19 cases were reported among citizens of 60 years or older. 89.821 occurred among the fully vaccinated (89.7%), 3.395 among the unvaccinated (3.4%) [[3]]. One week before, the COVID-19 case rate per 100.000 was higher among the subgroup of the vaccinated compared to the subgroup of the unvaccinated in all age groups of 30 years or more. In Israel a nosocomial outbreak was reported involving 16 healthcare workers, 23 exposed patients and two family members. The source was a fully vaccinated COVID-19 patient. The vaccination rate was 96.2% among all exposed individuals (151 healthcare workers and 97 patients). Fourteen fully vaccinated patients became severely ill or died, the two unvaccinated patients developed mild disease [[4]]. The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies four of the top five counties with the highest percentage of fully vaccinated population (99.9–84.3%) as “high” transmission counties [[5]]. Many decision makers assume that the vaccinated can be excluded as a source of transmission. It appears to be grossly negligent to ignore the vaccinated population as a possible and relevant source of transmission when deciding about public health control measures.

Figure 1 Vaccination rates and proportions of fully vaccinated people among symptomatic COVID-19 cases (≥ 60 years) in Germany between 21. July and 27. October 2021 based on the weekly reports from the Robert Koch-Institute [[2]].

In technical scientific journal parlance, that’s just fucking devastating. And, it’s in The Lancet and you don’t get more prestigious than that. Like others, I’m surprised it’s in there. I take it as the sign that the narrative scam lie that’s been perpetuated for 2 years is coming to a head. There’s just too much bullshit and crapola to ignore and besides that CNN has lost 80% of their audience in the last 11 months.

Here’s a good layman summary of the letter:

  • In the UK it was described that secondary attack rates among household contacts exposed to fully vaccinated index cases was similar to household contacts exposed to unvaccinated index cases (25% for vaccinated vs 23% for unvaccinated).
  • 12 of 31 infections in fully vaccinated household contacts (39%) arose from fully vaccinated epidemiologically linked index cases.
  • Peak viral load did not differ by vaccination status or variant type
  • In Germany, the rate of symptomatic COVID-19 cases among the fully vaccinated (“breakthrough infections”) is reported weekly since 21. July 2021 and was 16.9% at that time among patients of 60 years and older [[2]]. This proportion is increasing week by week and was 58.9% on 27.
  • In Israel a nosocomial outbreak was reported involving 16 healthcare workers, 23 exposed patients and two family members. The source was a fully vaccinated COVID-19 patient. The vaccination rate was 96.2% among all exposed individuals (151 healthcare workers and 97 patients). Fourteen fully vaccinated patients became severely ill or died, the two unvaccinated patients developed mild disease
  • US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies four of the top five counties with the highest percentage of fully vaccinated population (99.9–84.3%) as “high” transmission counties
  • A similar situation was described for the UK. Between week 39 and 42, a total of 100.160 COVID-19 cases were reported among citizens of 60 years or older. 89.821 occurred among the fully vaccinated (89.7%), 3.395 among the unvaccinated (3.4%) [[3]].

OK, now onto Mike’s issue this week in general and other sections. Since I had already drafted and email to him—as I often do with feedback or related stuff, I’ll just draw from that. Some of this might not head-jive if you don’t at least read the relevant sections in the newsletter.

Hey Mike,

I can only imagine some of the feedback you might get from the Covid-devoted (if you still have any left) over your “whining” over the UPS saga. BUT PEOPLE ARE DYING!!!

Indeed, there was a time not so long ago that publicly whining and complaining was unbecoming, especially for a man. But now we live in interesting times. And one part of all the moras that’s being peddled is a complete abrogation of basic business and customer-service duties and responsibilities going back to March of 2020. Every time you try to get anything done requiring some level of customer support, especially as concerns all the big companies, you hit the “due to Covid-19” wall, whether it’s live support, or even electronic.

One case that comes to mind, for example, is Facebook. As you are aware, I’ve caught something like 30 bans of 30 days going back to 2015. Thing is, until Covid, you could appeal your latest ban and I’d say that something like 1 in 5 actually got overturned, and usually within a few hours. But since Covid, appeals are no longer possible ’cause Covid…. No matter, deleting FB and the other social media has been good for my general mental health.

I’m sure everyone has their own sagas of this phenomenon of the excuse to be shitty and worthless to customers, passed off as “due to Covid-19.”

What I I hope would reach readers, even those who may support a lot of the nonsense, is the sheer and monumental ridiculousness of it in your case. How fucking unnecessary. I’m actually amazed at how much bullshit and hoops people are willing to be subjected to in order to come here to Thailand where most of the fun stuff is still prohibited or curtailed. I shake my head that “the authorities” believe they are going to recover a massive tourist industry in this manner. Since their measures for re-entry began with the “Phuket sandbox” initiative on July 1st, last I looked is that about 50,000 have come in these 5 months—but a huge percentage are not tourists, they’re repatriations for expats or those who maintain a 2nd residence here.

In 2019, Thailand saw 43 million tourist arrivals (118,000 per day) and total spend is estimated at $63 billion, 1/5th of Thailand’s total economy. So, all this clapping about their “success” is a pitiful laugh. I wonder what Hawaii’s tourist numbers are, compared to 2019.

…On RFK Jr’s Fauci book, here’s an hour-long interview Tucker did with him. Highly recommended. The man has become quite heroic for me. Very interesting to hear and consider his whole take on being a lifelong Democrat and proponent of strong regulation over corporations. It’s hard for me to ague the libertarian principles of so-called free-market capitalism with things as they are—especially considering that massive corporatism, its rent seeking, sweetheart deals, and corp financing of the regulators is a far cry from the free markets envisioned from The Enlightenment forward.

…As tough as it is to do sometimes, I’m still in league with you on the conspiracy vs. stupidity and incompetence front. Yep, a whole lot of people in positions of power and influence simply acting in the interest of their own values—as misguided, wrong, stupid, and short-sighted though many of them must be.

…Indeed surprising that Lancet piece. I clicked over to that review of it by Igor Chudov, of whom I too was unaware, but he seems pretty sharp. I clicked over to a couple of his other posts and if you didn’t, I recommend, especially this one:

Terrified Vaccinated People — Borax baths portend mass fear psychosis?

https://igorchudov.substack.com/p/terrified-vaccinated-people

I think he nails the “alternative hypothesis.” The standard narrative (conventional hypothesis) is that those who regret getting the vax and doing all sorts of silly shit to “unvax” are actually anti-vax who got vaxed anyway because of all the various pressures that have zero to do with an actual sound, individual health decision. The display of gleeful schadenfreude on display is, to me, quite telling. I’m all for people getting what they really deserve, but who deserves to be injected with something they believe is either ineffective, superfluous (natural immunity), or harmful and do so only because of massive external, societal, financial pressures?

“Very likely, it is NOT true that the “un-vaccinating” phenomenon involves only recently jabbed anti-vaxxers. It probably involves many more people, and the fear and desperation are only getting started, as I will explain later.

“We may actually be approaching a new mass psychosis, the uncontrollable “stampede of the vaccinated”. This article will explore this in some detail. […]

“All of this bad stuff, even it is suppressed by Internet social networks, is widely circulating in the most primal social network: people meeting people in person, at work, or talking on the phone. This network is out of control of governments and Internet oligarchs everywhere in the world except North Korea, and is no less influential that Twitter or Facebook. This primal in-person social network has its own influencers, like that Covid skeptic Bill from accounts payable, who knows everything and was right on every turn, its own friend groups, in-person retweets, and so on.

“So once enough bad stuff is known to enough people, it begins circulating. No amount of fact checkers can convince someone that “No, your uncle’s blood clot was unrelated to the vaccine he took a day before”.

“In the absence of trust in media, this begins to go around, becomes self reinforcing, and would naturally create fear in a good number of people. This especially applies to persons who had or witnessed serious vaccine harm or are experiencing “colds from hell” or feel that their health is declining otherwise.

“In this situation, which already started happening, the most obvious thought is “I want to get un-vaccinated”. This is what drives the Borax baths, which will not work. But the Borax baths and the false “debunkings” of them, which are correct in that the baths do not work but are wrong on who is taking them, are the evidence that “un-vaccinating” has already started.”

He also goes points out that fully 10% of the population are only once vaxed. I don’t know what proportion of those are of people who had very bad adverse reactions to the 1st dose and said NO MORE. This could be upwards of a million Americans or more; consider the worldwide number.

…Really great piece by Abigail Schrier. Cathartic, as I’ve held a long disdain for materialistic, scientistic, masturbatory critiques of free will. Enough said on that boring topic. Perhaps I’m just too dense to grasp all the nuances and insights.

Here’s a Tucker video from a day or two ago with leftist-feminist, Kara Dansky, about this men in women’s sports thing. Pretty good.

Update From the Berlin Corona Investigative Committee

It’s mostly a sign to me that a certain energizing is going on. Fuellmich’s wrap-up is quite something in this regard.

That’s about it.

One little thing to add from the newsletter that I did not address in my email.

552 Fully Vaccinated Oregon Residents Died Of COVID-19, Half Received Pfizer Vaccine

Since the beginning of the pandemic, health authorities in Oregon have recorded a total of 552 breakthrough COVID-19 deaths throughout the state. Of the total number of deaths, 273 people had been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. At least 144 received the Moderna vaccine and 78 were given the Johnson & Johnson shots, according to data from the Oregon Health Authority.

Except for the title and that paragraph, most of the rest of the poor article yammers on and on about cases this, cases that—I suspect as a means of downplaying the deaths from Covid in spite of vaccination. The poor writer, Danielle Ong, didn’t even bother to look at data and do a simple calculation. Of the total 5,356 Covid deaths to date, about 3,866 of them are since the first of the year when vaccination began. So, that means of all the deaths purportedly caused by Covid, 14.3% of them are fully vaccinated.

The article ends with this genius-brilliant sales pitch.

Despite the rising number of breakthrough cases and deaths, health experts still urge people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, noting that the shots continue to offer protection.

The Oregon Health Authority has opened a new high-volume vaccination site at the former Multnomah Greyhound Park in Wood Village. All three vaccines approved for use in the U.S. will be offered at the new vaccination site. Booster shots and vaccine doses for children will also be available.

People hoping to get vaccinated at the Wood Village site are not required to book an appointment to receive the vaccine. The site accepts walk-in and drive-in recipients.

The Oregon Health Authority is also planning to open nearly a dozen vaccination sites statewide throughout December, including locations in Baker County Fairgrounds, Clackamas County, Columbia County Fairgrounds, Deschutes County Fairgrounds, Jackson County Expo Center, Marion County, Union County and Washington County, according to KGW8.

I’m with you and Dr. Eades on the “stupid vs conspiratory” theory. Have a couple of retired C-Suite execs in family (one MIT grad) who bought the Covid shots/boosters. At least one is now realizing that trust in medicine, including his golfing buddy MD friends, is not founded in reality.

Am concerned about the move towards authoritarianism (fortunately live in SE US). Yet think that most who welcome that level of control won’t be around, or at a functioning level, if they continue with the punch-card booster plan (aka the Vaccine Mandate video).

I use some of those substacks to offer alternative health/diet concepts on the now willing-to-see crowd.

I want to think you’re full of shit and that the vaccines are necessary, but how willing people are to just throw away critical thinking without understanding what the fuck they’re talking about is staggering.

The same thing happened with food zealots when I went through that phase of my life ~8 years ago. I was not excluded from this phenomenon. It happened when I shifted from mostly classroom learning to spending hours per day reading online but not thinking enough about what I was reading. Watching my grandfather die of brain cancer flipped a switch in me. I stopped just observing my body as the primary source of information for what I should eat. I became a believer, as I think we all do when we go into the nutrition-o-sphere because there’s usually a catalyst event that brings you there, desperate for answers.

It happens when people talk about climate change. No one I’ve spoken to who believes in the “standard narrative” of anthropogenic climate change (if that can even be defined at this point) knows a damn thing about how it actually works or has ever spoken to a scientist who “knows” how it works.

I honestly don’t know what information to trust anymore when it comes to online media. It gives people a sense of knowledge gained without proper negative feedback. Any negative feedback feels, more often than not, as a tribal attack, and is therefore dispensed with. I think this is likely true more so for highly intelligent individuals who lack wisdom. They can, I’d argue, more easily fall into the trap of overestimating their own knowledge as truth.

It feels like social media has rotted my brain compared to what it used to be. Finally pulled the trigger deleting IG, FB, and even reddit. I want a fast from all of it. I want to feel like a person capable of critical thinking again.

    • Rita on December 10, 2021 at 23:09

I agree with you, Justin, about not knowing what information to trust anymore. For health, it seems like doctors do not know what they are doing other than what med school pounded into their brains. Journalists are all biased and/or completely full of crap – not to mention bought off by Gates and other vested interests. And politicians…well, that’s an easy target. It’s getting more and more difficult to find sources of information that are actually fact-based and thoughtful. It’s quite confusing, really. This is the scariest time I have ever lived through – and it’s not because of COVID – it’s because, for the first time, I feel like I’m living in some Wonderland, alternative-reality world where nothing is true, everyone has their head in the sand, and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Where do we go from here? Who do we trust? It’s forcing me to read a lot of Alan Watts, Emerson, that sort of thing, and just stay internal.

Food zealotry is a good analogy (and good way of describing it as well).

I pretty quickly sensed that much of the purity, clean eating, taboos, etc., all essentially reduced to a sort of religious fervor where you have vegan on one extreme and carnivore on the other. Thing is, you can actually see results in yourself and others by just following a few simple principles like mostly whole foods, not eating too much too often, and giving it a rest sometimes through fasting.

      Done.

But, as anyone can see in the various incarnations of dietary zealotry, there’s little money to be made in that simple approach, because it’s all DIY.

I must admit I laughed about ‘borax baths’. All they’ll get from that is dried out skin. I actually used borax (tiny amount in a litre of water) as an anti-acne treatment as a teenager and it worked; dries your skin out though (that’s how it works). AFAIK I didn’t suffer any ill effects (so far – 40 years later) – I dare say the roaccutane I was prescribed later was riskier (that works too).
